An earth home or an earth shelter is a structure that is built partially underground with the earth against the walls and/or roof. I was inspired by my interest in how bits of nature such as grass popping through the sidewalk cracks, completely surround us without our realizing it. My fascination with earth homes comes from a curiosity about how nature and manmade structures interact and what it would be like to live in a space where nature literally surrounds you. By playing with subtleties in natural variations and slight shifts of color from light, I created this collection intended to inspires us to think about what grounds us.
